anyone know how long it takes godaddy.com to refresh it's servers. I change my domain's name servers yesterday and it still points to the same place.

I know some of you might be tired how much of a Namecheap troll I am, but there's another reason to go with NC. Instant dns refresh!
As for Godaddy I imagine it couldn't possibly be longer then 24 hours.

the DNS change is not related with the registrar.
it's related with the global DNS database update which occurs every 24 hours
BTW I registered 1 and transfered 2 domains to Hostway. seems fine to me at the moment. support works well :)
I can advise them. 6.95$ you know.

Not true. It has very much to do at registrar level. I've never heard of a global DNS database. The closest to such are the zone file updates which occur every 12 hours and are only related to the availibility status of the domain.

Lots, sorry to say, but he's right. It's not the registrar. It's the ISPs and main internet backbones. There is no such thing as instant DNS changes. It takes a while in any registrar. With godady, it usually takes from 16 hours to 32 hours.

Someone is making a mistake.
How is it that when I make a dns change so I can use a third party mail service the immediate follow up test is successful?

That is an MX change, not a full DNS record change.

MX change is a dns change.

I use namecheap and it is never instant the DNS change. I have to wait about 24-48 hours for it to go through.
