IBM is really, really expensive. My dad's been happy with his Gateway :classic2:

Get the IBM T40. It's the best performer in benchmarking tests, outscoring the dell D600 and gateway by quite a bit. It also has the longest battery life out of all battery tests conducted with new Centrino laptops. (go to pcworld.com and research yourself). The T40 is also one of the lighter models, weighing in at only 6.7 pounds including battery, ac adapter, and power cord (in part because of its titanium top and bottom covers). IBM is also world renowned for the quality and performance of its laptops. Go with the thinkpad, you won't be disappointed.
