Since excelland is *dead*, is there anymore sites that allow you to free start your own free hosting service that is with no ads on both your site and members' sites? So far, i only know about megagiga but they put on ads! :(

http://www.portland.co.uk - they offer basically everything with cobranding (cgi, ftp , php4, mysql) with no ads, but are slow and have a 100mb bandwidth limit for you and your sites.

Let me put this in a language you can understand:

Portland does "allow you to free start your own free hosting service"

But it's difficult to get accepted.

Yes. But you could use portland's dns editor to host your site elsewhere.

They don't reply to people with free email addresses (i.e. mail.com, hotmail.com, etc.), you have to use a paid email (i.e. aol, msn, or some unpopular free email).

But if i were to register with namezero, they will continue to take my domain after 2 years! Then when next time I can register the domain, i will need to register from namezero and i think namezero is lousy!

IMO, all free domains sucks. You don't own it. In other words, you don't have control over it, it's controlled by the company you asked to register your domain. If you don't plan to buy your "free" domain back into your own hands, emeisp is the best, but if you plan on getting your domain afterwards, then try to apply for one at Namezero.

Question: why would you want to host a fwp that's not really hosted by you, and you don't have the ability to host one (and get a real domain)?

<|R0cKm@nX|>
April 27th, 2001, 20:59
but is there any special requirements for emeisp?
I have tried that a few weeks ago but they gave mi a reply that i am not qualify! If u want to see the web site that i signed up 4 emeisp, look at my signature and click on the Neopets 1.

I think they require a certain amount of hits per day but i do not remember how many it is on one of their pages. At wigglo.com you do not need a domain to host why dont you go there.

<|R0cKm@nX|>

the problem with wigloo is that they have a sucky banner on members page n thats y i dun like it.

Sorrie...
A typo error so i edited it...

what are you talking about namezero not replying to free emails...they replied to mine @ excite...just takes them a while because they get soooo many...I email emeisp and asked them if you needed 10 hits right away, they said no, just by the end of the year...you don't get penalized for just starting...but my site was turned down probably because I had almost nothing on it!:)

<|R0cKm@nX|>
April 28th, 2001, 23:11
so actually how long did u waited to recieve the mail from namezero? By the time, ppl may have already taken your domain and u have to re-apply and re-wait again!
For emeisp, I have just waited for 1week and i got my reply!
