Hi,
could somebody explain me how to use .htaccess ?
What exactly is .htaccess ? Is it a file, a program ?
How do I use it
The only thing I know, is that it has something to do with password protected directories.

it a file found only on unix based servers (linux, freebsd, etc.) and is read by apache, the "." in front of it means its hidden. the htaccess file can do alot of things like block ip nums, add file extensions, and like u said can be used to password protect directories. there are also other files like it, like the .htpasswd file (which is used to store passwords)
