Well, DNS can be quite confusing and the last person I tried to explain it to was a bit overwhelmend with the links I sent them. What specific question do you have?

Hello
The main thing is to understand what its for.

Basically your web site has an IP address.
When you type that into a web browser your ISP looks it up and sends you to the correct IP address.

They get this information from the other name servers.
Your domain must have an authoratative anme server that stores the master copy of the record.
This is usually supplied by your web host.

In most cases you need to know nothing about DNS because they do it all for you.

The records list things like:
Where mail to the domain should be sent.
Where different host names (www, ftp etc) should point to (IP wise)

Thats it really.

Please explain more. You cannot use DNS to redirect to an url.
