Blocking Pop-Up Killers

Some websites deny access to users who have a pop-up killer turned on. How exactly do these websites do this? Is there any way to circumvent this technique?

So, you want to know how you can bypass the protection on a site that disallows users who are bypassing their popup ads....?

I would guess it's some Javascript stuff...with cookies. Show an example of such a site, I have yet to see one.

It tries to open a window which sets a cookie...then if the main window can't find the cookie, it tells you to disable your popup blocker to continue. Annoying.
