Due to a few conversations about this same topic I have decided to open #FreeWebspace to see if there is enough interest to make it worthwhile.

How to use the chat:

There are currently two methods to joining the chat:

1) A normal IRC chat client (i.e. mIRC, xchat).
Server: irc.lifelessirc.com Port: 6667 Room: #FreeWebspace

2) Java based IRC client.

Step 1) Visit http://www.lifelessirc.com/
Step 2) Change #LifelessIRC to #FreeWebspace
Step 3) Enter your nickname beside Nick name:
Step 4) Click on "Push to start"

If the applet does not load, go to:
http://www.java.com/en/index.jsp and install Java for your respective OS.

If anyone has any suggestions/comments. Post here or find me on IRC as Trel.

Hope to see you all!

You really need to talk to Peo prior to doing this as it is representing FreeWebSpace.net directly and indirectly. Chatrooms never get popular because of the lack of self control some people have.

I'll give it time and try to schedule chats instead of hoping for people all the time.

Riverworld and I hang out in there anyway. Sooo.. :D

There is a reason for operator status, to control the behaviour of individuals in a room.
So you can't just come out and say chatrooms *never* get popular, there are many popular IRC channels.

Chatrooms that are popular almost always have a long history behind them. (such as the one I operate, which has about 50 users in there 24/7.) Otherwise, they're pretty dead.

I guess Robert is referring to all the attempts at creating a channel for FreeWebSpace.net or similar situations where someone not affiliated with a certain website tries to create a channel and take the website's members.
