Would someone mind explaining the downsides of an unofficial domain reseller? Snake Inc. is offering .com's for $10 (http://www.snake-inc.com/services/domains/), and that $20-30 margin in their price and others' prices is making me doubt myself.

The only downside I know of is that you must contact them for all changes that you want made to your domain. They offer DNS and all other common features, it is not a forwarding service.

So, have I been misinformed? :biggrin2:

They are just resellers for Enom, most likely. Our site, verodomains.com is powered by enom.. so are most places. It's a great way to provide web hosting services.

Yeah but you guys don't offer DNS with your $10 domains. Snake Inc. can make it so that your site is like:

http://www.domain.com/sent.php

instead of redirection which would be:

http://www.domain.com/

no matter what page you were on.

P.S. Is my thinking on DNS incorrect?

No. From any respectable place, when you buy a domain, you get full control over your domain. Now, I don't know what Snake Inc uses, but Robert's company resells the domains from Enom. Enom is an accredited registrar. Buying from a reseller is no different than buying direct from the register, it's just usually cheaper.

There are popular domain registration companies that are not accredited (Namecheap.com). They resell. But, really, they are no different than any other registrar.

So, if you did buy a domain from Robert, you would have full control over your domain, including DNS. Same goes for any other reseller.
