*.edu.au names in australia must be registered through the department of education or something like that. I don't know how the government works in China, but there should be some sort of department that the rights to edu.ch domains or whatever...

If you just want a plain ".edu" domain try http://www.educause.edu/ maybe?????

Hi,

I'm affraid it will be impossible or very difficult to get .edu domain for non US educational institution.

Should be edu.cn if i'm not mistaken. I never knew .edu domains were hard to register.
