Hm... What do you think... it is worth registering all three domains or its better to register just a .com domain? I think just a .com may be even better solution. For example, you have one nice site at .com and then someone creates another nice site on the .net with many visitors. I think you can only benefit from that! A lot of visitors will come to see .com too and that site on .net will give you additional traffic. Maybe you will give some traffic to the .net site also, but more visitors will try .com than .net (.com is more popular). So, what do you think about that theory? :)

I'm EVIL! I want the .com, the .net, and the .org to be ALL MINE!!!!! MuHAHAHAHAahahahAHAHahAHHAHA! Anyway, I don't really know about that. I know that Yahoo.com has a bunch of Yahoo TLDs registered to them. So their basically trying to monopolize on the Yahoo domains.. Blah, I'm yammering, where's my food!? I'm hungry! tee hee! ^_^

Good idea. A .com is more familiar. Also, if say a visitor tries to access the .net site, but it is down, they may type in the .com and try it out, giving you more traffic. I don't know...do lots of people register all of them, or just the one they want?

dynamite- I actually think it is a rather good theory and have thought of that myself. Not only will people mistype the URL (guaranteed), but if it becomes really popular, they might offer you a decent price for the .com version. :)

Grab all three.

Since domains have gotten cheaper, it only makes sense to get the .net and .org if you have the .com. For instance, if you are in a business, you wouldn't want an angry customer to snatch up the .net or .org domain and make a site that is damaging to your reputation.

Also, in the event you were to ever sell out, selling a complete package with all three domains would make the value of the site even higher.

If you're using some real obscure domain, just for a personal site, it would be fine to go with just the .com. If you are in a business, or something that might provoke other people to be mad at you (a political site, etc), then go with all three TLDs.

If you are a business, you can sue owner of the offending site or any site which is offending to your trademark. There is no point in registering all available domains. For example, think about .cc and .org ... which is more popular? So why should I register com +net +org? Because this was popular 5 years ago? It would be smarter to register .cc/.tv besides .com. This would add even more value. :)
But I think this is pointless, except for high-profile domain names, like fly/buy/business/shop, etc... If you have some average name, like 'carpainter.com' there is no point in registering all of them. And you will get additional traffic from 'carpainter.net' and that means more business. :)

I generally go for all three, plus mispellings of the domain name. But it gets to be very expensive. Sigh.
