Hi all.

I have a dotcom with the registrar Tucows.
I am looking for a free host associated with Tucows because I'm too darned broke to pay for the transfer to another registrar.
So, could anyone here give me a few names of free hosts hooked up with Tucows.

Your help will be most appreciated.

Just curious - can't you decide where to host if you register with Tucows? What crap.

I bought my domain name a few weeks ago from a small web services provider in the town where I live. I then discovered that my registrar was not the guy I gave $35 to, but Tucows. When I asked him what that meant, he said he was just a reseller (or something).

I then looked around for a free web host and found Netfirms.
Now I discover that if I want my URL to be my own, without the .netfirms attached to it I have to transfer my domain name to Network Solutions, which costs money.

So I'm looking around for a free host where I won't have to do this transfer.

I don't understand what the problem is.

Sorry, did you take me wrong? (Maybe I'm wrong that you did). Anyway, to make it clear, I didn't mean YOU were talking crap. I meant it is crap that you can't host a domain bought from Tucows anywhere. I wasn't aware of this. :)

Yes, my first big surprise was that Tucows was my registrar.
Not that I care one way or the other about Tucows.
I don't know enough about that stuff, but I just thought that this local guy was it.

But this domain name transfer thing is what bugs me.
It looks like web hosts are associated with these various registrars, and I figure if I could find one associated with Tucows, then no transfer.
Although, I wonder if they still won't find a way to make me pay for something or another.
The "No Transfer Fee" maybe.
