Where does it state that their closing, this could just mean that their offering new services :). Just because the company is moving into paid hosting doesnt mean they will close their free hosting.

Don't know who will sign up though!, sheesh 14.95 per month for 100mb wheres the CGI, PHP & Mysql!

Though they will probably have exceptional speed :).

How does this URL have anything to do with Geocities closing? try http://www.geocities.com or geocities.yahoo.com/home.

You might want to look at
http://urbanlegends.about.com/science/urbanlegends/library/weekly/aa043001a.htm
And start getting a bit more suspicious of e-mails that claim that "This is not a hoax" That's usually a sure sign that it is.

http://website.yahoo.com/

This was made after Geocities acquired the "unlimited" free host simplenet.com.

SimpleNet was never free. They always charged $10/month.

(Forgot to include):

SimpleNet's $10/month was the CHEAPEST program. They had some really expensive ones mostly for ded. servers.

It's a hoax. (http://urbanlegends.about.com/science/urbanlegends/library/weekly/aa043001a.htm) Geocities isn't closing.
