The Australian Music Industry celebrated the sensational talents of Delta Goodrem at the 17th Annual ARIA Awards in Sydney last night. Nominated for a record ten awards, Delta won seven of the eight categories she was nominated in along with the Video Hits Award for Best Video and the public voted Channel V Oz Music Artist Of The Year, taking home nine honours in total. She picked up the first two awards for the night, the Highest Selling Single for "Born To Try" and Highest Selling Album for her 7 x Platinum debut "Innocent Eyes".

Other awards included Best New Artist Single, "Born To Try"; Best New Artist Album, "Innocent Eyes", Single Of The Year "Born To Try", Best Pop Release "Innocent Eyes", Best Female Artist, Channel V Oz Artist Of The Year and Video Hits Video Of The Year.

Accompanied by her family, Delta made her first public appearance at the ceremony since being diagnosed with Hodgkins disease earlier this year. Although she didn't sing on the night, ex-Savage Garden vocalist Darren Hayes performed a sensational rendition of her award-winning single "Lost Without You" on behalf of the 18-year-old star.

Delta Goodrem's "Innocent Eyes" CD and "Delta" DVD are both available in stores and Kazaa now.

Yeah.. I think she's yet another manufactured popstar..

which reminds me.. there was some radio guy who said that Delta is too good a role model, making year 12 students aim too high. He finished off his speech with words something like so: 'Remember, you were born to try.'

Funnily enough, 'Born to Try' was one of her hit songs. :confused2

Let's not start a flame argument or anything, but I still think she's yet another manufactured popstar. I will now leave this thread.

I despise this style of music.

And yes, music like this is generally manufactured and marketed for large consumption by the masses.

I honestly don't think she is manufactured. She is all about the music. She doesn't rip clothes off, and some of you may not know she is going through a difficult time of her life at the moment dealing with cancer.

I would not put her in any of those categories.

I think she is a good singer without being great

What happened to the "Hottest Australian Female Artist" section of the poll? I would definitely vote for that!! Good voice, bad genre. I have a lot of comments about "pop music", but thats a different topic.
