I know apache, but

What kind of software do you use to host websites?

like
give users
php
ftp
cgi-bin
database

most importantly

how do you make DNS nameservers?

I don't want it to be like

35.236.543.643.63.46.43.643.643.6.43
i want it to be mydomain.com

The things u want to offer are much better if you would change your OS to Linux (or maybe Unix). PHP & CGI are crappy under any Windows operating system. Besides, Apache was made to run under *nix platforms, not Windows.

By the way, if your Windows is Windows 2000, better get Windows 2000 Advanced Server or at least Windows 2000 Server and just offer your members ASP and MS Access (for the database). FTP won't be a problem with IIS.

You want DNS Nameservers? Are you going to be an ISP? Are you serious with the DNS Nameservers? Assuming that you are going to be a web host. Not necessarily a FWH. And you are going to have Windows 2000 as the server and offer PHP, CGI?????? Oh my gosh! That's the most unbalanced hosting I would ever know.

Anyway, just think about my first advice. Go and switch to Linux before you offer PHP and CGI.
