I cant understand how some people can protest Harry Potter... (it might be worth noting I reckon the books are good:P) I mean...it makes so many people (primarily kids) so happy and its got so many kids actually READING!
And claiming Harry Potter teaches kides that using DARK MAGIC is OKAY? Hmm... lets see...
1. There isnt any such thing as real magic.
2. How does it send that message?!
I find it amusing...I suppose theres some people out there that find Star Wars and what have you forms of mind control the devil uses...

Harry Potter definitely isn't evil and it doesn't promote witchcraft or anything like it...the books just really suck. In that sense, maybe Harry Potter is evil. Cool. I'm now on a Harry Potter vendetta.

That's what I thought...now though, after reading the 3rd to 5th I cant see how ANYONE can dislike them, unless of course they havnt read them.

I've read...I think 4? of them. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I don't know any of you outside this forum, which is good.
Actually, I did enjoy reading them. They aren't by any means anything "great", but they are fun to read. It's nice to read something mindless and adventurous for a change...well, actually, I don't read a whole lot. I try to at night, but always fall asleep, so it takes me a month or so to finish off a whole novel...and by the end, I am reading characters names, and have no idea who they are, because I read 3/4 the book while half asleep...so...ramble.

I read the first 3, just to see what the hype was about. And the only reason I don't like them is because I'm not a retarded chimp.

The further they go Blank the more less oriented they get towards 3rd-graders.

Exactly. It's fun :classic2: It's kind of not as fun any more, because they were my books at first...then my sister read them, foo. Now my youngest sister is reading them...gaah! they were mine dammit! argh!
Yeah, just had to vent that...

if harry potter is promoting witchcraft and magic and stuff, then how abou some of the disney movies, just to name a few like The sword in the stone, fanstania, snow white, etc the list is endless, its just a few people how have little imagation and take book to seriously. I'm sure if they looked on the lighter side they would see that theres nothing wrong with it.

I bet 75% of the people that say Harry Potter promotes witchcraft watched Bewitched and/or I Dream of Jeannie as a kid.
I think the books are OK. And I don't know who said this earlier in the thread, but they do get more teenager-and-above-oriented as you progress through the books....

The first 3 books were good, really geared towrawds kids, but in the 4 and 5 books, it really came together, and looks like a may be a very good (and long) series.
I am pro-Harry Potter.
Aw man, it's been a while since I've been here... look at all the new smilies!

Harry Potter isn't evil. It's amazing how there are people who actually take these right-wing fundies seriously. :doh!:
