It seems the Geo hoax and the news Xoom may be shutting down is scaring all the Warez over to Worldzone. So we had to get drastic.

Free webspace has been brought down to a mere 2 megs of space and 1 gig/month bandwidth. However, the $12/year upgrade option puts you up to 50 megs, no ads, and 2.5 gigs/month bandwidth.

This doesnt affect existing accounts, only new ones. Warez Masters have all kinds of excuses to justify what they are doing, but here you see some of the negative they cause. When my bandwidth shoots up another 23meg per second because of them, I have to tighten up the hatches.

This is not caused by Corporate greed. This time it can be blamed on Warez greed. You can thank those lamerz for it.

This is probally a stupid question but...

Is there anyway you could, let say, prosecute warez webmasters for loss of resources or something in that nature since they agreed to a TOS stating no warez?

Might not be worth the bucks, but it would probally get the hint over to the warez masters

Webdude

No, it would cost too much with no return. Only time it would be worth it is if they were in the United States, and had money..

"they probably won't care about the bandwidth they're wasting"

how are they waisting it?

When you have a 10 meg program being downloaded hundreds of times a day, it uses a lot of bandwidth. Especially when you have a couple hundred warez sites.....they are not wasting bandwidth, they are stealing it.

Webdude,

Yes, you're right (about the sucking part). Actually, its my timing. On the 1st, three days ago, while I was trying to open account my computer crashes. My son came home for the weekend and the first thing he did was fix my computer. The first thing I did was go online to open the account, but to my surprize the free web space is now only 2 megs. That sux. Actually warez sux.

You can do a lot with 2MB

Our three domain registration sites and two hosting brands combined use less than 1MB combined.
OK, its mainly text and scripting but you can do a lot with a little space.

See this page for some examples of what you can do with just 5K of space:

http://www.the5k.org/

My first computer ony had 1kb of RAM and we still did loads with it......

Can't really say i've got any sites over 2meg either, apart from maybe my messageboards...

Mind you, Worldzone Plus looks like a great price.

5k is cool. :)
Nice to see it mentioned here.

My daily surfing mostly takes me to sites like this board (a lot lately, he) and to sites like ALA and the rest in the Zeldman empire. It's like two different worlds. One could easily become schizophrenic.

You can make a decent looking site with 2 megs of space. All you have to do is limit the amount of images and use nice tables :)

I have one site that's about 55 megs, but my main one (www.alexiacafe.com) is probably not even half a meg since it's just a portal to a bunch of remotely-hosted stuff, (i.e. Everyone.net, Community Architect, SubPortal, etc.)...

http://worldzonepro.net/ mentions 5 subdomains for the $3-plan. Is this new? Are subdomains without an extree fee now possible for old accounts too?

WorldzonePro is a different system than Worldzone. Thats the full pay host and provides tons more than free, including subdomains.
