I saw this article at another forum....
"Of course you know, this means war." --Buggs Bunny
It's not so much Microsoft v.s. Open-Source, as it is Unix v.s. Linux.
VARBusiness: At the end of the day are you guys going to be doing to Linux what was done to Napster?
McBride: Our goal is not to blow up Linux. People ask why we don't go after the distributors...'If you have such a strong case, why not shut down Red Hat?' Our belief is that SCO has great opportunity in the future to let Linux keep going, not to put it on its back but for us to get a transaction fee every time it's sold. That's really our goal.

I'm not liking this McBride guy a lot. I'm already against SCO, and I'm only halfway thru this and it's like 'what the crap, you're making yourself look really bad here...wtf?!'
I just hope he's not SCO's regular PR guy, because he's not going to make ANYONE in the Linux camp sympathise with SCO. Saying crap like...
IBM will have a lot of problems trying to hide behind the GPL. Basically the GPL is countering U.S. Copyright law.
So what he's saying is that if you make a program you have to copyright it, you can't dicate your own terms. My God, how ignorant ARE people?
We're not actually shutting down the flow of Linux, just cleaning it up at the end user level.
Translation: We're killing off the freeloader's and scaring most other people with letters and lawsuits so we can put more money into our pockets.
Before McBride came on, as he stated in that interview, SCO wasn't going to bother with this. Whether it's because, as he said, they didn't want to make the Linux community angry or if it's because they actually didn't care, I don't know. I dunno where I was going with that last part but I'm sure it was going somewhere.

I hate threads that link to articles. If I wanted to read news articles, I would read the newspaper.
I also hate it when people reply in threads, and fail to even acknowledge the topic of the thread.

Cause it's much more fun to be a cynical prick about these things.
