hey being an athiest doesn't mean that we don't get into the christmas spirit i still enjoy seeing the family and have a good time i just don't celebrate religoius reason behind x-mas.

Actually it was a pagan holiday for a long time. Very long time. Then since everyone was used to it, the early Christians stuck it as Jesus' birthday. So no, it's never been about Jesus, since evidence points to the fact that Jesus wasn't born in December at all, but in May or September.
