View Full Version : hmm question about Ev1 Servers..
December 28th, 2003, 23:52
1 GB RAM
80 GB Hard Drive / 7200 RPM
Un-metered 10 mbps Network Connection!
RedHat Linux 7.3
$1.00 set up fee
$399.00 a month
Now I have a few questions...
what does it mean by Un - metered 10 mbps Network Connection? Is that bandwidth? If so what is mbps? How many GB would that be?
Is this a good deal?

It means unlimited amount of transfer at 10mbps. mbps = megabits per second. its also 0.1gigabits. Please remember bits are different from bytes.

I thought there was no such thing as Unlimited...

they are giving you unlimited usage of a line capped at 10mbps.
in other words your limit is 10mbps.

Yes it does, but usually the secondary drive is used for backups while the primary drive is for data. If your server uses raid-1 technology and your drives are SCSI drives, you would be able to run drive mirroring. Running that type of server is very reliable since if one drive fails, it would use the other hard drive while a tech fixes or replaces the broken hard drive. Good luck with your server, and if you have anymore questions, please feel free to contact me :)
