The banner must be above the fold and must have a certain click through rate or your account will be deleted. On the bright side, they pay you 10 cents per click on the banner.

I've tried spaceports a while ago, after the upload of my pages (and renaming the homepage to the correct name), i went to see my site, the only thing I saw were ads. I couldn't find my site!!!

Spaceports used to be king... but now, I don't think so much. I mean I was with them for 3 year +, and they were just fine. Then one day I check my email, suddenly to be dissapointed by a message telling me of the click through rate which is about 10 clicks a day of their banners. Also the 404's are really anonying, yes they still do this. ALSO, their CGI server became seperate about 2 years ago, and with all these changes happening so fast I just got fed up. Trust me Spaceports is NOT, a good place to build a webpage at least not anymore. In other words, they got greedy.

Well, I would hardly say they got greedy. They just decided that losing 50K a month(or was it year? I forget) wasn't much fun. I used them for a bit too. They were good. But not anymore. Mandatory click through rates and placing above the fold were big changes. The 10 cents a click, is smart, because not many would actually make the 50 dollar minimum before quitting, but it still gives incentive to click your own ads a couple times, and actually trying to get visitors to click them as well.

It was $50k a month they were losing i'm quite sure, and for a while quite a bit above 50.
Anyway, I sort of liked spaceports... personally, I can deal with a top banner, 'cuz heck... i'm gonna put one of my own there anyway, and so i'm still getting paid if I have spaceports there...
Buuuuut, the reason I didnt stick with spaceports long was the whole cgi thing. SSI and FTP are the two most important things for me...and with spaceports SSI is just impossible because of their seperate CGI server, that can't be linked to from outside of spaceports.
