After 3 days of being down Nightsteel.com is finally back up. Thank god i use a redirection service. They claim to be on a T1, but I think they are on cable modem. Is there a way to find out?

no since the ping would be very close. and some services are colocated at a cable company. so no real way to tell

I dont like nightsteel. i signed up; they claimed it was taking so long because they were preparing my subdomian. i didnt ask for one. all their emails made no sense and told me nothing. i never did find a way to upload my files.

Oh well

Try using NeoTrace 3.01 to trace http://www.nightsteel.com
You will see a roadrunner like domain.

Yeah their ISP is rr.com
I noticed that just as i posted my reply. Is seems that rr only offers cable services, but maybe im wrong.

They're using cable, look at this:

*** Looking up nightsteel.com
-
*** Resolved nightsteel.com to 65.24.80.55

Then

*** Looking up 65.24.80.55
-
*** Resolved 65.24.80.55 to dhcp065-024-080-055.columbus.rr.com

They use DHCP, which cable modems use. T1's don't use DHCP. I wouldn't trust a host who lies...

You wouldn't say that when your website disappears in a short while.

Just saw this on the Nightsteel site:

Due to the sudden popularity for NightSteel.com Services we are no longer offer Web hosting as a free offer. We
are sorry for this but we were not expecting to get so many requests for web hosting our main goal at
NightSteel.com was to provide a quick and free web design service.

A month of getting regularly hits we have gotten over 1000 in 2 weeks, we just cannot handle that with our current
recourses. We will again offer web hosting in the near feature so please come back and check on our production.
Sorry for the inconvenient we caused.

NightSteel.com Team

What do you think?

That is what i expected to happen. When they were first mentiond i noticed from their counter how few hits they got and from their site what services they offered that they would soon become popular. I figured they would bite the dust as far as signups because they create all the accounts and subdomians by hand with limited staff. its probably for the better. too many members and their cable connection will be overtaxed.

Remember when datablocks was first launched everyone said they are on cable, when actually they are hosted at the cable company.

threads after threads were created damning datablocks.
