OK, I want to set up a forum, with no ads, all of my own. I know it can be done, and from what I've heard, it's not too difficult. I've no experience with this, but I have with HTML.
My site is being hosted, and the host supports PHP. So can anyone help me as to how I start and go about it? Is there a tutorial that goes through it all?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
I presume you're looking for free software, two of the most popular are:
PhpBB - http://phpbb.com
InvisionBoard - http://invisionboard.com
Both i think have demos or their own community on their sites so you can have a look at an example board.
Both are quite easy to install, just take a few minutes to read through the readme file.
For either though you will need MySQL, which you didn't mention but i guess you have also?

I do have mysql yes. but i'm still confused. i'm sorry to be like this, but i still don't understand :( my host said,i think, at leas tthat's the impression i got, that the forums could be made by hand, i don't know if he was willing to install the phpbb software or what, but he said stuff aobut php and that if i did it by hand, i wouldn't have any ads and things, so is there a tut to do that?
