right-clicking in windows explorer is sloooow

whenever i try and right click a file to rename it or whatever, its horribly slow waiting for the list of options to come up. it just started doing this yesterday and i have no idea why. i haven't installed anything recently. does anyone know what might be causing this? right clicking in internet explorer works fine, just windows explorer is slow.

apparently some expired verisign certificate caused this problem. i unchecked the box for 'check for publishers certificate revocation' and the right check has no more lag. is there much security danger unchecking that box?
