tell them that you usually charge $30.00 cpm but if you buy lots of impressions it can go as low as $10 cpm!!!

than of course you would have to share the money with me...:D

First is to quote them a rate you think is comfortable with. You will have to decide the rate.

You might want to offer a discount for bulk purchases (as in, more months)

Next is to discuss the method of payment. Snail mail? Check? Wired transfers?

Finalize the campaign duration, payment.

Collect prepayment. Personally, I would ask for advance payments. Normally companies would understand.

All the best :)

it was for http://www.surferbeware.com
something about advertising for a product that would improve security and privacy for end users thereby proving a valuable addition to my site.

something like that...
Heck, it beats those anonymizer ads...

seeing as it'd be pretty highly targetted, would $2CPM be too much to ask? I mean, it's negotiable and they'll pull it down and i'll end up making like $1.0-1.8 or something but that's a reasonable first offer, isn't it?

The fact that they contacted you (rather than vice-versa) puts you in position of relative power. Of course, you don't want to chase them away, as it's still a buyer's market, but you should be able to request a decent rate.

If I was you, I'd propose $2.50 or $3, and accept anything down to $2.00. Direct advertisers know that they are given superior exposure and superior service for their buys than when placed through a network, so this rate is not unrealistic.

Do you have your ad rotation software sorted out yet?

ad rotation software... nope, and not prepared either. All extentions are .htm, and i haven't even looked for rotation.

But for that rate, i only have like around 1000 hits or visitors/day (not even sure, wasn't tracking since i wasn't preparing for any of this). Of course they asked for stats so i gave them the analog stats that came with the server.

Is this the right time to switch to PHP?

Anyway, seeing as i only have +/- 1000hits/day (i could probably get 3000 really fast though) does that advice still stand? (about the rates).

Thanks all

also (forgot to ask) seeing as this is the ad revenue forum i guess this could fit in... Any recommendations on which ad software to use (preferably PHP without database for someone with a rather low budget. Okay, very low).

Thanks.

PHP without database... gonna be tricky...

Try to look at http://www.hotscripts.com ... I myself use AdvertPRO, http://www.advertpro.com ... is really great, and loading an ad costs the script only 7 ms (yes, that is 0,007 seconds) ... but I guess you get what you pay for ;)
