What kind of sites are you hosting?

Subdomains? Subdirectories? Or domain?

Seems like you should be looking for your own box... I don't think you can get that for less than 75 a month though. Maybe you can though.

ya , I also think your only solution is a d.server , take a look at tera-byte & rackspace

zazoo - as a well versed free hsoting consultant, I can tell you that if your budget is a mere $75 a month and you plan to do free hsoting for profit you're out of luck. In today's market you need tens of thousands of users and millions of page views to bring in enough money to even cover costs. So unless you have a very, very nice niche market or plan to pay out of pocket for free hosting, a $75 account isn't going to cut it. Like many other people said, get a dedicated server, hire a good graphic artist and a programer and then, MAYBE, you'll be able to make a few dollars in profit.

Hmmm, maybe I should become a free hosting consultant, or is that hsoting? LOL(joking about his misspelling). Nah, doubt I'm qualified enough :)

However, what Teddy said is absolutely correct. Be prepared to shell out an arm and a leg for a couple of years before you make any kinds of profits. However, an FWP consultant can provide you with a plan to lower your up front costs, methods to keep your costs lower, and what ways to make a profit....and no I'm not an FWP consultant in real life, but I can play one on the web :)

It does now, but then we are our own biggest advertisor. The total of all ads not ours probably equal to less than $5,000 per month.

We are about to do something else for the hell of it since we have our own ad network(EcomAdServer). We are going to start selling banner spots on Ebay. If we make some money, great, if not, we lose nothing. Prob be looking for $1-$5 per CPM....mainly just to fill in the many slots we have available. Right now we have about 20 million unused impressions per month. $1 per cpm is better than nada.

Come to think of it, I wonder if anyone here would be interested. $10 = 10,000 impressions. Theres a lot of people here that offer free or low cost services, which is the kind of things people on free hosting look for..

But yeah, WZ is making money. Thats mostly due to Pro though..

Get a RAQ2+ at http://www.rackshack.net and start from there or get one from http://www.burst.net. If you would like a sponsor, email me at sales@webvicinity.net and we will work something out :).

thanks for the great response it'll be a while before I get this site on the net but I'm going to make sure I have enough cash to cover the expenses first

Check out: http://www.donhost.co.uk

for about $59 a month, you have host domain, subdomains, with cgi, php and mysql, etc. You get 50GB/month - but beware, if you go over... its like $20/gb...

Check out http://www.webhostingtalk.com for more indepth info on their services...

But it might be a good place to start... *shrug*

http://www.efreeservers.com gives you a free server, you only need to pay 299$/month for 200GB of bandwith, but they say you only need to pay for what you use.
