View Full Version : DotEasy?
Has anyone ever used them? They sound very good, probably too good to be true. They offer 20megs of space for people with domain names, with no ads on your site. If you already have a domain, it costs $35 to transfer it to them, or it costs $18 to buy a new one from them, which isn't too bad. Anyway, I need a new host since RedRival is dying, and was just wondering if anybody knew anything about these guys. Thanks!

$35 to transfer? thats dotCRAP.
Well...you get free hosting other than that, so it ends up being a pretty good deal...

DotEasy is not totally free, you have to pay extra for the following:
Frontpage 98/2000 Extensions US$30/year
CGI/Perl/SSI Support US$60/year
Frontpage 98/2000 Extensions + CGI/Perl/SSI Support US$90/year
ASP/FrontPage/ODBC Support US$75/3 Months
CGI/FrontPage/PHP/MySQL Support US$60/3 Months

If you do want any of those things listed above, then it's much cheaper to go elsewhere. Also, if you want to transfer an existing domain it's probably better to go elsewhere to avoid the $35 charge. If you're registering your domain through them and don't need anything but basic web space and reliable FTP, though, then DotEasy is good. I'm using it, and it seems fast and reliable.

Who can sign up for the iRepublics.com free web hosting?
The iRepublics.com free web hosting package is available for corporate or business use only. If you are part of a registered business, corporation, organization, or society you can register for a free hosting account. You will be required to submit a copy of your official registration documents to us before your account will be activated.
It doesn't look like irepulblics is willing to allow anything other than business customers, for some reason.

$35 to transfer? thats dotCRAP.
haha thats a great quote
I realize everyone seems to think that their rates are not that great, but I don't need any extras, and so the prices sound pretty good to me. What I am really wondering is if anyone has had any experience with them. Thanks.
