I think Cheap Bastard's post touched this subject a bit, but im curious, wouldnt it be better to sell your ad's kind of like a magazine? Dont run it on a CPM price range and leave it a per month thing, i.e. put your skyscraper on our site for only $1 (example only) and you put it on a rotation basis. Encourage them to pay for more ads in a months time spand and it will pop up more then those who only pays for 1 banner. Also heck, say it goes on the network (If you are gonna have one ^_^;)
Tbis would totally be better then a CPM style payment making companies unsure on how much they might get paid. Make sure the banners are fairly big and eye pleasing, since if its more of a magazine layout, it has to be for more view pleasure then click through :)

It's the reason advertising companies exist, to create the best possible deal for you and the advertiser, taking their cut afterwards. Well that was the original goal, I cannot see it happening much now.
Although you are right, many webmasters are now sending 'cold calls' (emails to companies that might appreciate an ad on their site) and selling majority of their advertising inventonory by hand.
Now only if there was a company that did that? ;)

i am sure with the right amount of money you could get a company to do anything

Yes, advertisers who came to me are definitely more comfortable with that idea. You must be able to explain and "sell" why this is better than CPM and CPC. Although the rate is not in CPM, they would still want to know how much "exposures" you are getting. But irregardless of avearges, they will be charged the same. So they will be relived to know that they won't be overcharged if they received more exposure than agreed.

Wow, well i enjoy the positive feedback, now I ask, anyone wants to help start a network of networks to run this thing? Selling ads like magazines to stream over hundreads of pages to be viewed by millions :)

Well at first, i still want to hear everyones idea on this subject, do you think it will even do better then the current ad types in this market? What should be changed? What should be added? Need more input before i toss any risk into this ^_^;

Oh and at least $10,000 capital and a decent overdraft account before you enter into any major Internet venture... you may want to consider this.
Also, you may want to remember you'll be competing with players like DoubleClick, with millions of dollars at their disposal. ;)

Sounds like a great idea IMO... I like it much more than the current system cuz sometimes the advertising companies kinda get suspicious about my click thru rates and kinda start asking questions.
This way, they can get off my back at least.

Advertisers want to pay for results... I don't think this would work...

i agree with Woofcat. There's a reason why everything's running CPM or CPC instead of CPT (cost per time). Not many advertisers will support CPT because there's no guarantee whatsoever. Traffic could drop 50% and the advertiser would still have to pay the same...
It's like many ideas, sounds great in theory, but most likely won't work in practice...

At a time where nothing works, it is alright to try. CPM, CPC and even CPA. Even "big" companies are yelling fraud with CPA campaigns. God, I still have yet figure out how to cheat CPA. Buy products from my own links to get discount? Geez.

Well i guess that is ture, but if you actually run a reliable network/site that is well known, hit will not drop that fast.
i dont think i ever remembered hearing a site that had 1 million hits drop 50% within a months span, it really depends on the content of your site and etc. Everything has to be well thought out and you must ask corporations if they are willing.
Heck, its not like your charing companies 5K a month for running a ad. (Which some companies shell out monthly for sites that get lots of hits.) I believe bluesnews.com hits about 20+ mil per month?
