Is it just me or did I recently pop into a lot of sites with this new type of popup ads? once in a while when I leave a web site there will be some popup window coming out (e.g. "Unbeatable Deals", etc.) and this window does NOT have a minimize or maximize button, only the close button. It doesn't look like a normal browser window..

did some web sites install some special plugin on my browser that makes my browser pop up an ad like that once in a while? because it doesnt seem like fixed that which web site has ads which web site doesnt... it seems to just pop up randomly.

I'm not sure about the random pop-up, but with JavaScript you can quite easily make an 'un-closable' window for IE. Well, almost un-closable. ;)

well, sites that i am SURE that don't have ads popups... for example, some of my friends' personal web sites that resides on their school's (UC Berkeley) server. (unless you argue that UC Berkeley needs to put ads on their web sites for income, in that case I have nothing to say then... and no, my friends don't have ads on their sites either, because I asked them personally.)

I dont mind one or 2 but when they make a small popup that keeps opening bigger ones and you have to right click the toolbar to close it that pisses me off.

ezboard now has crazy pop ups that move around and change size so you can't close them as easily before they load, its getting pathetic.

you can probably get them with the task bar too

alt+F4 would probably work too

i never use ctrl+alt+delete because i can never find the page i wanted and the history is just a waste of time to look through after 10 pop-ups have come up and you cant find the page your looking for
