How come kazaa freely distributes music without getting sued for copyrights infringement ?
I read on another forum one person asking how he can join his computer to the kazaa network so users can connect to his computer to download music files.
What he wanted to do was put music files of his own band so people can download it.
He wants to use kazaa as a free promotion center.
Now, how will he really use kazaa like that because unless people type his song name on the kazaa software, no-one will download his song. How will he get people to know his song name ? :confused5

My computer is not on the kazaa network for 3 reasons.
1. I read some-where that kazaa is being sued by the music companies for freely distributing copyrights material.
I did not want to be part of a network that is getting sued incase we get sued too.
2. I don't want to invite hackers to my computer as they can easily download my private files too.
3. I already mentioned that some fool has hijacked my browser, desktop, favourite files.
I don't want to invite more trouble to my computer.

I have not done it yet.
I got the idea from another forum.
A guy asked for help how he can connect to the kazaa network so that people can download songs from his computer.
What he wanted to do was put his own songs so people download his own songs.
I think he wants to use kazaa for free advertising.
I just wanted to see if his plan would work and so I posted the idea here to see what you people say : Whether it will work or not.
:-)

One correction here, buddy. KaZaA itself does not distribute files on the FasTrack network, it's people that use the sharing network for distributing files (like mp3s!). So the folks at KaZaA aren't getting sued, it's people on the network distributing copyrighted material.

You are absolutely correct. Unless people search for a keyword that is in one of his song titles, then his songs will not be listed in the searchers results.

Tell your friend to name his songs their name + genre
Like
RedRoses_techno_prograssive_trance.mp3
So people looking for 'techno' or 'trance' or 'proggresive trance' will hopefully download his song and know him.
Just an idea

I've noticed that it's nearly impossible to download anything off Kazaa these days. About 90% of my attempts come up as "Mour sources needed." Not sure why it's been doing that all of a sudden....

If this person really wanted to get downloads, he/she would just name it something naughty :biggrin2: .
Also Kazaa has its headquarters in the Canary Islands.

Oh ! I did not know that kazaa was used for softwares and others too.
I thought it was for music only.
Anyway, read the following and you'll understand where my "crazy ideas" come from.
Articles like that really put you off from kazaa.
There are also articles that show kazaa is winning the courts but if you were buying a car from a company who keeps getting dragged to court then would you yourself not hesitate a-bit to deal with this company ?
Read what the UK law might do to kazaa :
