They are phasing out the super size items by the end of the year so they can accomodate other menu items.

you add 57 cents and get a big --- coke and big --- fries instead of regular medium size.
I never buy supersized.
I usually only get a burger and large coke, no fries, I dont like fries. except when they were running this farmer-fries promotion, those were good :)

they aren't able to take on more menu without eliminating some? Are they liable to lose a lot of money that way? I'm not economically well versed...but I do like super sizing though, so that's gonna suck.

Yeah... I like the supersized fries. The coke is a little excessive, but I always get supersized just for the fries. It's gonna suck having to order extra stuff seperatly, and as someone pointed out it's gonna cost more for the consumers.
They're doing this to prevent people from overeating as they want to avoid future lawsuits like the ones already coming down on them. But in reality, the ones who want to overeat will anyway.

I heard the reason they did it was for health reasons or something like that. A gimmick to make them look good. Or something like that.

I'll bet you didnt know that a Chocolate company makes the fries, did you? Nestle does.
I'll bet you didnt know McDonalds doesnt even have their distribution. A trucking company does, it's name is Martin Brower.
I'll also bet you didnt know that "anything" from a cow is considered 100% pure beef other than cartlidge and bone.
A cow is slaughtered, the bones and cartlidge, as well as left over slop goes to dog food companies. The good slabs are sent to restaraunt distributions, the good beef sent to stores. The left overs out of that which is legally considered editible is ground up and put into 500pnd carboard buckets and frozen. Then sent to the patty makers. Patties are made into different sizes and thickness, depending on which fast food chain it's going to.
I know, because I used to work that industry. I worked each area over a few years period. While it sounds disgusting, it's really not. You cant expect to get the "best" part of a $1,000 cow for only $0.99, right? But you are served nothing that is dangerous or non-edible. The steps of making it also ensure safety against disease. The vats of meat are frozen at outragiously low temperature, far colder than what's required by law. Any germs and diseases that cant survive cold, are killed off. Anything left that survived, wont be able to survive the cooking process. This includes mad cow. So....I am not worried about eating brugers from food chains in America because of those processes..

mcDonals give away:
Each winner will receive a One (1) Million Dollar annuity payable in United States Dollars as $50,000 per year over 20 years with no interest accrued.
Hmmm, $50,000 a year is not bad at all.
