I'm just interested becuase it unusual for a website to be down so long, espically one their size.

And 50megs was wonderful!!! I mean I got lucky!!! My site was small at first but over time of coding my writings into pages I got up to 15 megs of stuff! :) Very proud of it-have it all backed up of course, but hey, I used to work in a ISP and understand that things can creep up or suddenly slap you with reality that it aint going to work without days of work and even THEN-bugs can be expected...

Matt did his best I think to give us what we wanted-we have a great tech forum there and most site owners are waiting patiently thru this transition since we've been told we'll get better, more reliable & faster servers and all. I am HERE because I need to find a new home for my site since I really have NO interest in supporting this company who deleted sites wihtout NOTICE to the owner giving time to remove or ALTER their content due to enforcement of hte TOS.

To ME that was a HUGE mistake and unforgivable since I know the sites in question were NOT pornographic but artistic ya know? Been up and won awards from our peers at my Web Show I hold four times a year because of the community feeling we had there in that forum...

To me its no longer about rubbing our noses in it...Its about what next?

I don't know who but some different free web host will be getting my support. As I am new Technics you may feel free to clue me in on stuff you heard and I would be grateful for help finding a good FWP for my Cyber-Soup Shack. :) I really think THIS forum is a great idea and have enjoyed nosing about the various threads. :)

Yeah I have it all on my hard drive and floppy disks because I appreciate triple back up ya know? ;)

50megs sites are back up too btw. :)

I would like to hotlink and perhaps have downloadable zips of like my book samples. I was about to totally redesign it anyway and I do have a lot of pictures of my son and myself so my family can 'meet' my precious lil 4 yr old. ;)

I have a ezboard and love their stuff but there are various bugs they have and it is hard to live with all the updating ya know? :/

Any advice is appreciated! :)

Couldn't tell you as I don't know anything about 50megs.com ...

I just saw this thread and tried to connect to http://www.50megs.com
and I can connect to their web site just fine without any problems.

Regarding "Ad Free" hosting, try Clubhost City! When we first opened
back in January 1997, we adopted an "Ad Free" policy that we still
hold to today more than 8 years later.

We just deployed a totally brand new web site layout this week

on converting those over to the new format. Any pages missing
right now should be operational again within the next few days.

bottom left corner of our main homepage, you will see a small link

because we made it deliberately very small. You can just go to
the target of that link directly at:

Good grief! I didn't even notice that this is yet another OLD THREAD ...

Who is the idiot who keeps bumping up old dead threads?
