000Domains.com & Alldns.com -- Any Yays or Nays?

I am looking for information good or bad on the following
2 registration services:

000Domains.com at $13.50

Alldns.com at $12.75

Has anyone had any bad experiences with them? Are they
reputable? How easy are their systems to work with and
redirect after being parked? I'm a rookie at this so I'm
not sure if these are good ones or not, but they seem to be.
Am I incorrect in these assumptions?
Should I be leery of the cheaper ones?

I'm new here and just discovered the forums. Great place!

Welcome ----, and many people have used 000domains and they seem to really like them. I dojn't personally use them, but they have been talked up quite a bit. No need to be leary of cheaper registrars, but it is a good idea to post and get opinions and experiences before you take any web-related plunge. Sometimes the free advice is worth it :)

Thanks for the input.

I had read elsewhere in the past that 000Domains had
received favorable responses. I've not heard anything
bad about them.

I had only heard a couple of other good reports about
them but that was a while back also. They also seem to
be reputable.

Both seem like their systems should be fairly easy to
use also but as you say, sometimes its best to check
around. Sometimes things can change.

I will say that if you are looking for services such as URL redirection to free web space, it might be better to go with a slightly more expensive registrar such as redirection.net which offers both. Of course there are other ways to accomplish this, but for some people it is a consideration.

Chicken makes a good point... I recently transfered a domain to 000domain and they seem to be doing fine (their control panel works good). I also have some at rediretion.net and they are great for a redirection or you can have them set up a control panel and point it to a IP. Not bad for $1.50 more per year.

What can I say? You guys are GOOD. Esp. Chicken re: alldns

I wasn't aware of the other forum but I figured with
what I discovered with this forum was that if there
was any funny biz at either co. someone here would know
or have heard about it.

I keep hearing (here and in other forums unrelated directly
to hosting) that 000Domains is very good and reputable at
least for now.

I had only heard a couple of good things about alldns and
it was back in the Spring. These folks sound like bad news.

Someone can tell that other unfortunate fellow on the other
forum that alldns just lost a chance for my biz. I was about
60/40 in favor of 000Domains over alldns. Now its
100% for guess who? If nothing else, "Nam" I think it was
can use this posting to show alldns just how effective bad
word-of-mouth advertising can be. They can't afford to treat
customers like that.

Chicken, jiminsd and all the rest of the gang, thanks for
your input. Anyone with further comments are still welcome
to post any good or bad reports about either company.

As a self described rookie, I think you'll really like the ease of 000domains's interface. It is reeeeally easy to control your domains and everything associated with them (from contact info and DNS changes, to ownership changes and advanced things like nameserver creation).

If you register another domain (in addition to the one you are about to register), be sure to use your same user ID and pass, then you'll be able to control both easily by logging in once (helpful when you have 30 like I do, heh).

I hope that you don't use ALLDNS - and I hope that 000Domains are very much better as ALLDNS are certainly not - there have been many many problems and lots of people have them.

Just search for ALLDNS on this site, and you'll see.

Good luck

When I am typing, I noticed to topic and not sure why you limit your choice to these two.

Give godaddy a try.

You are certainly wise to be inquiring about a domain register for your site. I originally registered with Network Solutions. There were many rumors running rampant about them and I decided to change. (Although, I never had a bit of trouble with them and they were allways on the level with me) The low price offered by ALLDNS looked very attractive to me. Well, my bargain is looking more like a giant loss. Price is definitely not the key factor that you should be concentrating on when purchasing or renewing a domain name. The reputation of the company is far more important. I am including some links I found on the net about ALLDNS customers.

>>Some of the newer registrars are even worse, even if cheaper. Alldns.com, as an example, was totally unprepared for handling an important activity like domain registrations. Submissions were made to them and neither an error message nor acknowledgment was received. You could lose domain names waiting to find out what happened if someone registered them first. Furthermore, they have a departure fee of $20 (if you transfer to another registrar) that is not disclosed when you register with them. Their registration fee of $12.75 seems overpriced for the poor service they give. <<http://www.hostreviewer.com/article_106.php

Maybe some good news for you guys. I have been receiving help from AWREGISTRY. ALLDNS was a reseller for them. They are taking over the accounts which were sold thru ALLDNS. They have been working on getting my domain transfered from them and it should be done in a couple of days. They cannot do anything about the money I have paid, but that is a minor consideration to me at this point. (I will count my blessings and be happy with that) My concern was to get the domains into a safe harbor. I will be renewing my domains with them. If you had a problem and your domain was an AWREGISTRY sold or handled thru ALLDNS, then contact them at support@awregistry.com. You can go to their web site and renew there, or go thru one of their resellers. I personally went thru allwest.net which is one of their resellers. These guys are straight and trying to solve this mess. WHEW!
