If you really want to start a portal like yahoo, then you should think about investing something first.
A site like that should have professionnal hosting, after a while even its own servers, and you have to invest.

guys look ......

if you have ever seen homestead ?
they make money off of offering services
and trust me they make more than these hosting providers

and they have no ads
im willing to put up a link saying hosted by blah blha

but come on banners >>? they can put banners on their site
and make money off of impressions

and when you start off a portal you barely have any money unless you get a loan

which i dont have

so if you can give me any suggestions
please let me kno

http://www.homestead.com

what do u mean they have ads ?
there are no ads ...?
if u want to use their banners to make money u can
but you are not forced to put banners
they have a revenue sharing program if u want it

not a banner forcing prograM

Actually, Homestead has two programs: if you sign up for their "personal" plan, there are forced banners on your site. But they also have a "professional" plan which is banner free. (I could be mistaken, but I am pretty positive that's what the deal is) I honestly don't think you are going to find any free service for that much space with no ads. There are plenty of services for under $10 a month that are more reliable and are ad-free. Is this something you have considered?

The only way you are going to make something of yoursite is if you invest in it. If you are serious about your project than you should be serious enough to find a paying host to host your site. This way you really get what you pay for and your banner problem is solved. As of late a lot of the free webhosting businesses have been going kaput. Even the ones people have thought would be around for ever. In my opinion you are just waisting your time if you think you are going to find a free web host with out ads that can provide you with those resources.

OK... Ill give you free space with no ads but you pay me $6 per gig bandwidth your site uses. ;p
