Okay, everyone, I'm back. Man, I didn't think I'd be back so soon. Anyway, I want to know, is Nightsteel worth hosting on? The fact that they have no ads is nice, but the real reason I'm considering hosting with them is that they offer unlimited webspace (or 1 gb, which is still practically unlimited in my book). My -------- address is still pointing to my site copy on NBCi; I have another copy of my site on Crosswinds. However, NBCi may be closing down soon, and Crosswinds just *has* to throttle download speeds of files over 100 Kb AGAIN (hopefully, temporarily), so I'm desparate! Therefore, I'm considering hosting on Nightsteel; file downloads (not uploads) are a bit slower than normal on my cable modem, but at least the server serves them, unlike Crosswinds. So, once again, is Nightsteel worth it, or should I just pray that Crosswinds lifts their stupid download limit before NBCi goes out of business?

use nightsteel.com if you dont mind the 90% uptime, and they are on cable modem. This website is hosted on nightsteel.com http://www.xfva---------- For the huge webspace and unlimited bandwidth they give me, I dont even mind them putting ads on my website.

I think that Nightsteel will do. Thanks! As for the ads note, even though they don't require anyone to place anything, I'm still going to thank them by linking their site on my 'Links' page, like I am doing for --------, since they, too, are nice enough not to add ads to your redirection.
BTW, the last time I posted here before this thread, the reason I left had nothing to do with what anyone here said.

I've got an account there and I personally think its a great host.... nice ftp speed and also they r planning on giving some nice new features soon too.
Plus, they have a better support system than some other hosts, since they actually answer questions.
I thought they stopped accepting new sign ups tho

The popup saying that hosting is discontinued is gone. Ask on the nightsteel messageboard to make sure

Lucky i already register with them :) Now i've got 1 gb webspace with no banner ads !
I've got an account too, but I haven't touched it yet. And they support sucks - they don't reply.

My -------- URL is currently pointing to my Nightsteel copy, even though it usually is pointing to my NBCi copy (and it will again, once NBCi is back up, IF it is - we never know if its member web site server is down for good). Nightsteel may be slow, but at least it actually ALLOWS me to download large files; Crosswinds seems to be fast for files < 200 Kb (although they state no file size limit), but any file larger than that on CW has a < 1% chance of even downloading. If NBCi goes down, my site will have to be on Nightsteel until Crosswinds works out their file download problems (I know in the end they will, but I'm frustrated with them now). I'd rather discontinue my site than actually pay to get it hosted, and Nightsteel seems to be the second least of many FWP evils (the least being NBCi, when they're up).
Have you ever tried spaceports?

Aw sweet, NBCi is back up (points -------- URL back to NBCi copy)! I guess Nightsteel.com will serve as my online site backup copy until the CW problem is resolved (see above post). For now, however, later Nightsteel.

Nah, they can't seem to fix their FTP. I've even e-mailed them, and they said that they fixed it, and it still wouldn't accept my username and password. So, I just told myself, "Forget it!"
Oh yeah, in case you're wondering, Crosswinds' Scott (pres.) and Tony Holmes (vice pres., senior systems architect) are brothers.
