Hello all,

i want help, i live in UK and im getting broadband access (512K) and my computer needs a makeover.

Im buying a new 40gb hard drive to pair with my 30gb. Im going to keep my 30gb as a backup and network drive, have ftp access, store mp3s, and software zips etc.

When i get this 40gb drive im going to install windows 2000, as ive heard its secure (its a personal computer). I want to know what other software you recommend i should have on my system with regards to virus checker and firewall and anything else i may need.

At present i have Norton Antivirus 2000 and no firewall. What are the best firewalls, and what about freeware firewalls and do you think Norton is a good enough virus checker??

Thanks in advance

Iain

Norton Antivirus is good.

BlackICE Defender (http://www.networkice.com) is the best firewall, but ZoneAlarm isn't bad for freeware.
