what connection are they running the server on?
seems like DSL or cable
Haze
May 22nd, 2001, 03:15
2 mbit/s Broadband
My best guess would be DSL as im not sure of any cable providers that give you that kind of bandwidth.
Im not sure how they can offer Unimited everything on a 2 mbit connection. Im baffled.

well
it's easy to get 80 gigs harddrive
and i doubt people would use more than 1 gig at the most
programmer2k
May 22nd, 2001, 03:36
well
according to the picture shown in their site of their server
there is a pic of a cable modem right beside the server..
hmmm
or it may be a dsl box

Ok..Let me get this VERY Clear. MIFIX IS NOT ATOMIC! NEVER WAS AND NEVER WILL BE! Digital-Host.net IS ATOMICHOSTING! THE DOMAIN JUST GOES TO MIFIX BECAUSE THE OWNER OF MIFIX WAS THE ONE THAT BOUGHT THE DOMAIN
Smokedogg24
May 22nd, 2001, 16:38
How can they afford a t3 line when they can't afford a 40 dollar case?
acetg
May 22nd, 2001, 16:41
He couldnt afford the case "WHEN" he built the server, which was a while back. He just has been to busy with the server to bother with a case. (he as in Ben, the mifix owner). LEt me make it clear again, MIFIX IS NOT ATOMICHOSTING!!!
Smokedogg24
May 22nd, 2001, 16:52
Oh so Mifix isn't Atomic Hosting...then who is? I think that your letting yourself be punked around here...why don't you just let it go...I didn't say Mifix was Atomichosting...I just asked how you can afford a t3 line....besides what do you have to gain from all that work? Unless your selling info about the users to someone else...I know I wouldn't be able to afford a t3 line just for free hosting and no money in it...then again you might be rich...in which case Mifix isn't atomichosting....or is it?

Some of us still pretend we are.

You know I wish I had that kind of connection then I could afford more listeners on rocknetradio. Im still amazed that he cant afford a box but he can afford new hard drives and t3 colocation? WTF! Gimme some juice here? Hook me up with a shoutcast relay while your at it too!

what does the box has to do with his web hosting?
AlabamaMan
May 22nd, 2001, 19:44
What are you smoking? Or you are just trying to be adorable? I heard young men in Asia do that (Dont get me wrong, Im Chinese and I live in Georgia, Im just tired of my 25 year old cousin who watches Pokemon and acts like hes one of the characters. Sad eh?)
A web hosting's reliability depends on its server, if the server doesnt have a box to protect it then you get the picture. Im amazed that guy even put that information about his server on the website, I guess he was jsut trying to make a point that he "built" the computer himself.

May 22nd, 2001, 20:01
It puzzles me as to why he would show that picture. It would make his web host less reliable in the public's eyes.

Ok im just gonna enligten on a few things:
1) MIfix is running on a T1 connection
2)Mifix Is NOT AtOmic
3)Digital is NOT AtOmic
The way the whole atomic thing went down:
Jeremy and Ben started AtOmic last year. Since then they fell out and went thier seperate ways, Now Jeremy runs Digital Hosting(www.digital-host.net) and Ben runs Mifix(www.mifix.net)
The atomic domain points to mifix because Ben owns it.
Both company's have hired new staff and AtOmic Hosting no long exists as AtOmic or as any other company.
Hope that cleard some stuff up.

T1?
Can anyone confirm this?
If they have enough to pay about $1000 per month
Why don't they just build a better comp
like P4 1.3 ghz
with 80 gigs
256 ram
for about $800
