Anyone know any hosts out there that allow users to link to images from an outside site. I used to store images on http://www.geocities.com and reference them on my site (<img src=http://www.geocities.com/myname/image.jpg>). However, now geocites no longer allows this.
I think anyone that would allow that would be very stupid!

To continue what Max said, any host that allows 'hotlinking' most likely will not do so for long. Hotlinking is totally unprofitable and creates a great deal of bandwidth cost and server drain. There are a few paid hosts though that specialize in offering hotlinking access.

What good is a solution if it only lasts a day or a week? The point is geocities no longer allow hotlinking, the ftp.geociteis.com solution was just a fla gin their apache configuration... but unless tehre's some other 'secret' subdomain, rewrite code will ban all users from hotlinking via geocities.
Tripod may allow it now but don't count on it lasting for long...

If you get webspace with your isp - most allow hotlinking to that.
Exactly why can't you put the images on the site in the webspace. The only reasons I can think of are perhaps auctions such as Ebay and signatures for discussion boards.
Ted,
Did you get my email? :)

helps reduce the load on your server - not realy an issue unless you have many many hits
There's a new trick for hotlinking at Geocities.. You have to rename your image files to a .txt extension. Then do the regular <IMG> code..
