View Full Version : Free + PHP + Hotlinking: for Puny Avatar Hosting?

A message board I frequent allows modest "sub-20k, 64x64 pixel" avatar pictures. Photobucket is obviously very much appreciated by most of the board members.

Someone found a PHP script that randomly picks any one of your previously-made avatar pictures to display. Which is nicer than just changing your avatar every time you get sick of one. But you need a PHP-compatible host. And Photobucket doesn't support PHP.

So does anyone know of any other free host that would work? It doesn't have to be big, one megabyte would be more than enough, and the bandwidth wouldn't be much either, as it's really just a 20k avatar picture.

I know the host wouldn't really get anything out of the deal, aside from hits on the website when you go to change pictures, but some places seem to give out more resources for (apparently) less of a reason.

Website interface is not a problem (as long as it's clean and simple to understand). Speed and reliability are always a plus, of course. And nothing weird, like wanting me to chat with the site-owners on IRC, or wanting my home address and other personal info (I didn't even know people really did that until I started looking around).

Does a place like that exist? Or is Photobucket just the best that there is?

I've seen some PHP-capable free hosts mentioned that allow hotlinking, but they seem to want you to make an "active" website, and I don't think I could seriously make a useless-but-active website, just to exploit some small image-hosting potential.
