how come it's 100mb in your site?
sitesled
May 10th, 2004, 18:46
We upgraded all accounts to 100MB this afternoon after we put up
2 new machines to handle the increasing # of daily signups we're
getting. Our expansion also allowed our members to expand their
sites.
I will try to edit that previous post if I can to correct it.
Best Regards,
Phil

403 forbidden

Sorry you are getting that forbidden message. We had to block out a few
ip blocks from China, Taiwan, and Japan starting on Monday do to some huge
amounts of fraud coming in from those areas.
I could try to open it back up, but when I do, I get 1000s of accounts
signing up with account names like oiaukldfj3939 , etc. I'm not
sure if it is warez, or what they are using the accounts for.

We do not have support for MySQL at this time. *.doc files are
fine as long as they are legitimate files. Our abuse team keeps a close
eye on any suspicious accounts. If you get a warning message, just
explain to them what your goals are with the site and I am sure there
will not be a problem.
Thanks,
Phil

mmkmaste, the reason we don't include MySQL is because
after a few thousand databases it starts adding quite a bit of
overhead to the machine. We are working on a solution
for the issue, but the additional costs associated with supporting
MySQL for 10000s of sites is real.
Funding:
Using revenue from other projects to power sitesled currently.
Our goal is to help build brand name recognition for our up and
coming pay host service. The pay host will be a completely
seperate enterprise from Sitesled, but we hope the two can
work together well. If we fail to produce sustainable revenue
from selling ads on the front of our site, or in the webmaster
area (forums), we will probably just stop taking signups after 200,000.
I think a lot of mutually beneficial relationships can be forged
by opening your doors to 200,000 people. Either way, we've
got a sustainable model to operate longterm up to that #.
I hope this answers your questions.

im very happy with your service. but the problem is me and my friends are from Singapore and we get the forbidden often. surely there has to be a better way other then banning the ips. cuz the ips here are dynamic. may have to find new host. =(

Filtered IP Blocks Receiving Forbidden Errors -
Surfers should no longer have problems reaching your site.
We are now only blocking those IP blocks from our signup
page. I hope that we can get a tighter validation system
setup shortly so that we can allow everyone to signup,
but for now, a very small % may still have problems reaching
the signup page.
Let me know if you have any suggestions ;-)
Thanks,
Phil

kakabozo,
Please contact me via our email address
staff(at)sitesled.com so that we can line out your account.
If you will recreate your account and contact us, we will flag
it as valid immediately and you won't risk ever having any
additional problems. If there were blatant errors in your contact
info, etc, the account may have been removed from the system.
We ask that everyone please take our sign up form seriously.
We try to run a tight ship over here and occassionally good
accounts will be removed because the webmaster put kakdfjafksaf
for the contact name, and things like that like. We really hope
that you will sign back up with us. Let us know if you need
_anything_!!
Thanks,
Phil
