Technics October 28th, 2000, 16:30 Is it just me or is tera-byte getting slower?.
A few months back sites would load really fast now they load slower than most uk hosts.
InterserverMike October 28th, 2000, 16:50 nahhh.. they could not have oversold bandwidth could they? ;-)
unlimited space
up to 40 GB of transfer for your site per month
CJB October 28th, 2000, 18:08 Nope, as I look at the bandwidth graphs now, there is still plenty of bandwidth available.
As to the original question, I haven't had any problems accessing Tera-Byte's network. I'm on a T1 here, and I'm still able to get full T1 speed to it.
InterserverMike October 28th, 2000, 18:14 Are the graphs open for the public eye?
Coolin October 28th, 2000, 19:30 Maybe it's the systems? Almost full hard drives taking forever to find that certain file?

Not knowing which server Technics is referring to, I couldn't tell you how full the hard drives are. Regardless, this wouldn't have a noticable effect on the access speed of the hard drive.
Steve October 28th, 2000, 21:37 Do you mean the tera-byte.com site is slower now or your site on a tera-byte server? there are plenty of reasons why a site can slow down, the most obvious one of course is your on a shared server. the more people do, the more load on the server. whats the domain name(s) your saying are slower ill check it out.
Technics October 29th, 2000, 08:55 Must be my connection then.
It's the main tera-byte site thats the slowest it can take upto a minute to download even at quite times of the day. Also the server which the htaccess tool is on is very slow too.
I connect via an isdn line too.

I want that .htaccess tool !!! *know he should just email steve but...*
Technics October 29th, 2000, 11:06 What actually runs that .htaccess tool at tera-byte?.
Chicken October 29th, 2000, 13:44 I emailed steve will let you know.
Technics October 29th, 2000, 14:20 cool thanks.
Chicken October 30th, 2000, 10:44 Bahhh, he just said that one of the techs created it... have to get the number of that tech :)
Technics October 30th, 2000, 11:58 i think there's a tool like that listed at hotscripts.
ybandy November 4th, 2000, 18:02 It should be your connections if the main site is the slowest
Johnny November 6th, 2000, 15:34 Hey mike,
on you profile it seems that you work for interserve.. do you also work for tera-bytes? cause you seem to know alot about them.
Technics November 6th, 2000, 15:58 I just noticed something. Tera-byte is extemly fast at the start of the month slows down during the last week could this be a problem on their side or could it just be me?.
Also mike from interserver is a lame --- spammer who likes to email you saying contact our sales team we can offer you this. Anyone who hosts with interserver should think about moving providers. Anyone know where they are located i mean the servers since i want to report them for spam.
Johnny November 6th, 2000, 16:27 Thank Teh,
I was gonna sign up for them.. since you say they spam then I don't think I would wanna sign up with them.. and they seems like there one on one tech support are 24/7.
Technics November 6th, 2000, 16:56 Tech Support might be good but spam is spam and thats low.
Johnny November 6th, 2000, 17:00 why do they even spam... they seem like they have alot of customors.. cause they get a lot of downtime (jumpworld.net) and there aren't any uptime gurrantees.
Technics November 6th, 2000, 17:05 Greedy and want more money like everyone else :).
Tcoy November 6th, 2000, 17:06 The only relation Jumpworld had to Interserver was that they use to colocate there...
Johnny November 6th, 2000, 17:31 colocated? damn jumpworld.net have alot of downtime.. so that mean there line sucks.. and if there line sucks.. then hosting must be mega slow!!
Technics November 6th, 2000, 17:34 Guessed correctly.
Tcoy November 6th, 2000, 17:40 Actually, on their boards they said that they were attacked and had warez sites using up the space and bandwidth all the time. Warez sites suck :(
Johnny November 6th, 2000, 18:00 damn.. that mean there really suck!! cause they got very low sercurity.. and the can't even control the bandwidth.. if they are smart they will know that if a account its using too much bandwidht then they are hosting warez..
But I guess I have to go with them anyways.. cause they offer 650mb 20 extra ftp accounts for only $20 do anyone know any place off this ?!:( cause I need those space and those extra ftp accounts.. I have alot of small sites and I figure no point of spending more money for a small site when I can host all the sites on one account.
jvv November 8th, 2000, 05:52 I'm using http://www.burst.net at the moment, they allow you to make your own ftp accounts, pops, mysql database, ...
Their uptime and speed is good at the moment altho they are upgrading PHP on their boxes now which may give some downtime.
Their support is ok, not super, but not bad either...
Hopes this helps you a little.
