Hello everyone in this forum!

I have opened a new site called "BlogItek!", at BlogItek you can have your own weblog for free powered by the popular Movable Type. When I mean free, I mean free. No Ads whatsoever, you get your own subdomain along the lines of you.blogitek.uni.cc I only have limited space as I wait to get upgraded. So get your account fast before i run out of resource! You can get your own account at http://www.blogitek.uni.cc/signup.php! Do remember that this process is manual and the only thing the form does is send the information to me via e-mail to check over. So it might take you from a few hours to a few days. If you ever need support there is also a support link on the front page (http://www.blogitek.uni.cc/). So if you run into problems e-mail me and I'll try to answer them as much as possible. Also note that the current version of Movable Type (3.0) has strict license policies. So I cannot use that version. The current version on the system is 2.661 which allows unlimited number of users and blogs, whereas the new license restricts us to 1 user and 3 weblog. So please do not e-mail us about that. :shame:

Sign-Up: http://www.blogitek.uni.cc/signup.php (http://blogitek.uni.cc/signup.php)

Movetable Type is a very very intense program and places great strain on a server, running multiple ones will result in the server crashing. Oh this will be fun to watch.

He always spoils things :P

So, no TLD, no ADs how are you making money, how is the server paid for?

Movable Type isn't exactly the most power hungry blogging tool out there. I've run several sites for my friend that are hosted on my own account, and they've been great before I started to switch to WordPress. I can't really think of any other processor intensive blogging utility, but yea there probably are some out there. And also the server is actually one that I have gotten from XF-Host @ http://www.xf-host.com/, so I don't pay for it at all. Their service over at XF-Host is pretty strong and it's reliable. But do note that I DO backup your data. But also note that although I back up, you should also do so yourself. Just incase something happens, and I can't recover your data for some reason. Do realise this is a one-man operation so.... Blogger is also another site that offers these kind of service. Although it's based on their own "Blogger" system. Some people (such as me) don't exactly like Blogger that much. Especially for those that require much more advance features. So it all depends on your software preference. Another host that offers service similair to me is weblogs.us. They are also a nice host. :-) But I do hope that you will choose me as your host. But again it all boils down to prefrence. If you don't trust me you are fine to go with another site. It doens't really bother me much. :knockedou

First, yes it is a cpu intense script (that is hwy a lot of hosts ban it, including yours truely) and second, it has a lot of security flaws.

Actually I don't really know of any hosts that ban Movable Type. Hosts that ban Greymatter yes partly due to the security cpu intense, yada yada... As for the security flaws, nothing is fully secure, so every script thats out theres, someone will find an exploit. Which the reason that they tell yo to update your computer. I'm thinking soon of having 2 choices for the CMS. Movable Type on another bigger server with 250MB of space and another CMS system in the current server that takes up less resource. Any ideas? Preferably PHP/mySQL based such as WordPress or b2evolution. If i get enough request I might take such a system. But do be aware that it has to be free and nothing like pMachine Pro which requires me to purchase it....

Great.

Not only do you dig up an old thread, you spam as well?

Not surprising though, seeing as you seem to be affiliated with Kaliboy2g.

Way to go.

query: is it spamming if I don't own it or aren't affiliated with it? I was only trying to contribute to these forums. I found the site and wanted to share it because I do know people looking for hosted wordpress for free. (I know i was, until I got my own hosting).

Then I realized someone may have posted about it first so I searched the forums for "wordpress". I found the old post so I commented about the wordpress site I found. If that's spamming I'm sorry, delete the post then.

In this case, I gain nothing by telling people about the site because, again, I'm not connected with it in any way except that I signed up. The only reason I'm not using it is because I can't customize the template like I want to.

About my signature, I'm not affiliated with Kaliboy, but he was kind enough to host me (the up and coming docphilip.com) so I thought it would be nice to help him out.

Anyway, the link to the wordpress host is http://www.blogthing.com
