I'm currently looking for a company (or a person) who would be willing to host me for making a gaming-related site.

What I've noticed about the Half-Life modding community is that there really are no sites that are constantly updated solely about mods. There's EscapeMod (hasn't been updated for 5 years) and one other main site (don't remember the name, but it hasn't been updated for 2 years), but none that are current.

For such a site, I need somewhere around 50mb of space, possibly more as I move along. In way of bandwidth, I'll need somewhere around 700, give or take. I have no idea how popular the site will end up being, but I'm hoping to keep it pretty active with visitors. PHP will be needed, seeing as how I don't plan on making this site a crappy 5-page site with one big gigantic list of all the mods.

Now, my art skills really aren't very good, so I usually struggle with that for a while, so when I make the site, you'll notice the graphics will look like crap, but I'll get some new images going up asap that don't suck. It just takes me a really long time to get some inspiration for a graphic.

Anyhow, as a last note, who ever the host is, I really don't want any ads. A small logo of some sort, like FrostyHost's small (100 by 25 or something like that), would be fine, but I mean no gigantic banners, the newer/annoying flash and java ads, or really long text links. Also, I would prefer that I don't have to post in any forums (I'd rather be working on a site than posting in some forums for an hour just so I can work on a site) or earn any "points (those usually require lots and lots of spam mail to come my way).

As a last note, you can see some of my previous work at tehrandom.u69.us (http://tehrandom.u69.us). I would continue keeping the hosting there, but when I applied, I didn't have a job. Now I do, so there goes 7+ hours of my day. (I've already informed them that I don't have the time to post there anymore, but they haven't taken the hosting down... :S )

Thanks in advance to anyone who gives me any information at all about hosting or helps me out. You can always contact me on here, e-mail me at "t3hguy@yahoo.com", or on AIM under the name "CstrikeMonkey" (I've had that name for 4 years...time to get a new one. :wink2: )

Really for free webhosts that survive I see four kinds of hosts:

1) Earn points by filling out surveys and signing up for free services that send you daily email about special offers.

2) Hosts with forced banner/popup/popunder advertisements that aren't user placeable.

3) Hosts that require forum posting.

4) Paid providers that provide you will a small free account that is upgradable by paying.

Unless you get someone to sponsor you specially, these are really your only options as far as free webhosting goes unless you want to see your site disappear one day. :bandit2:

Just pick the lesser of the evils or pay for webhosting. You've got a good host there with u69.us/clubhost.us you won't really find any better, just different.

Well since youwork, why don't you consider paid hosting. With paid hosting you get exactly what you ask for (Just got to find the right hoster, and be willing to pay for it) and you get the sure thing that you will have hosting everyday, and if you don't you get you money back. Unless you haven't paid yet.

Well, I'm going for free hosting because I'm saving everything I possibly can for college. It's around 2 and a half years off and I don't have a whole lot saved. Sure, it's maybe ~$30 for 1 year of hosting, but every bit that I can save will help. I've heard waaay too many poor college student stories. lol

Out of my paychecks so far, I've spent about...1% of the money I've gotten.

Now if I could get a free host, and get a website popular enough to actually generate money, then I'd get a paid host because in that case, I wouldn't really need the free host if my site could sustain itself.
