There is nothing to it. What ftp program have you got?
Normally there is some kind of address field where you enter your host's ftp address. Something like ftp.host.com ftp.you.host.com or even www.host.com.
Then you enter your ID (account) and PW in the appropriate fields and hit "Go". You will see some communication with the server occur and then you are in.
From here it's pretty much like windows explorer. A split window view where you see the folders on your computer in one window and those on the server in another. Probably you have buttons for up and down loading and most apps also let you drag and drop files from one window to the other.
There will be buttons or check boxes to let you chose mode. ASCII for text, Binary for images and other binary files and Auto if you trust the program to choose.
You can make new directories and delete or rename files either with some buttons or you will have options on the tool bar and/or the context menu if you right click on a file.
Ask again if this didn't help. ;)
