Has this host been discussed before? A friend sent me a link to it and I think that it looks amazing: Great speed and great features. The only problem is whether they will last for more than a day.
Anyone hosted on that site? If so, where do I sign up? I found the "handbook" (http://handbook.hey.nu/) but I haven't read it yet.

actually yeah. they've been around for like 4-5 years now. its better than advertised.
theres only one catch tho, it requires community participation. i.e. you gotta actually hang out on the boards and make friends and what not if you wanna be hosted.
i've been on there for about 2-3 years now. i made a lot of friends, became and admin, and even dated a girl i met on there for about a year and a half (that was a mistake...but that isnt the point here :P)
cheers

/me lols at olio. Yeh, its crazy there, but fun, not exactly a webhost though. More of as olio said, a good-members only thing. Also, you don't get hosting and then just stop posting, becuase the hosting is just a community based thing. Anyway, anyone can come around if they like. Iv been around for 2+ years and its great.
Im hosted btw, http://dmbtech.net

If hosting is only available to members, can I help you with the server or something and become a member. If you give me SSH, I can help maintain Linux. I have two Linux computers at home and I am really good at them.
If not, then what do I need to do to become a senior member and get hosting?

actually just come on out and hang out on irc and on the board, since our old acceptance system has been dumped
however, we still accept members manually on occasion. i.e. people who show up and hang out can earn an account and what not. but its not the same as before where we gave out accounts on a weekly basis. right now you'd have to earn your way into an account, like helping out with some projects (we have a lot of open source projects going on that help is always welcome) or livening up the boards (things are slow the last few days). even if nobody comes out and says 'keep it up youll get an account soon', the admins do notice, and next time we talk to each other, we'll mention that new person who came up with that cool new idea about the photoshop project or whatever.
we dont have an absolute policy in place about accepting users so you have to basically start making friends and hanging out. its not out of malice or elitism or anything conspiratory like that. we've had server moves, and then a server problem, and then because our community grew too damn fast (even with all the posts complaining about how we never accept anybody...) we decided to change the way we accept people, but since we're all superheroes by night, it takes time to get the code written and the system worked out.
we have about 10 admins, all of whom have itchy trigger fingers to immediately fix anything wrong with the server, so we dont actually need any admins at the moment, but if you want to take over the newsletter, i'm sure our lazy editor would not mind :P
hope to see you around :)

PS ezphel, if you're reading this, i really didnt mean the lazy editor thing. really. please dont hurt me!
