It's not illegal. But since you are not a registered company, you aren't paying taxes. Are you based in the U.S?

You should go to your city hall and take out a license to run a business. If you are doing this from home you'll need a home-business license, those run a few hundred bucks in Chicago.
If you want to be 100% legit you should also keep track of expenses and revenue that you recieve after you have the license to do business and report them on your tax forms appropriatley, you might want to have a pro do this for you.

In all states you must be 18 or older to register a company in your name.

Actually you do not have to be 18 to establish a Corporation in Nevada. But licenses are mainly a city-wide issue, not a state-wide. You get your license from city hall not state government so I bet some variation as far as minimum age goes exists.

My LLC was given to be by the State of Florida, not the City of Miami.

Yeah, that is your corporate identity. That is done at a state level. But if you don't want a corporation or LLC just a home based business you would go to city hall and get a business license. This makes you a sole proprietor and gives you the least headaces (though opens you up for liabilty if you screw up big time).

There's page that will show you an example of what kind of licenses you need. Most cities are similar I imagine, but I am using Chicago since I live in Chicago.
Edit: I am also fairly certain that even if you have an LLC or S-Corporation or C-Corporation, you will still need an actual business license to operate in the city of your choice. Corporate papers just establish your entity, they are not a license to operate a business in of themselves.

If you establish your LLC in Illinios it's either +$400 or $500, but if you do it in Nevada it's under $100! In border states it's still much cheaper. Don't pay the machine, they'll only keep asking for more;)
