Do you think, that there is a problem, if you configure a domain with zonedit.com and mydomain.com and configure these IP-adresses at the registrar?

At the moment zoneedit doesn't work (for me), so I would like to have, that mydomain's service is used, when zoneedit doesn't work.

I think that should work, the best way is to use it like this:
NS1: ns1.zoneedit.com
NS2: ns1.mydomain.com
NS3: ns2.zoneedit.com
NS4: ns2.mydomain.com
This would work the best

Why do you think that this would be the best?

Do you believe, that this is the fastest solution, because if zoneedit doesn't work the next search is at mydomain?

I would like to have that this domain works with zoneedit normally and so I configured:

ns1.zoneedit.com
ns2.zoneedit.com
ns1.mydomain.com
ns2.mydomain.com
ns3.mydomain.com

Is this not a good idea?

If you use mydomain as a backup for zoneedit, your is better. Else, the one I gave is better. Cause then you use both of them.

At the moment I think, that I want to use mydomain as backup.

Why could it make sense to use both? DNS-bandwidth isn't a problem for me. I found out, that most times the dns-queries are cached.

Zoneedit was a long time very reliable for me. In the meantime I have no problems with mydomain too, but there were a lot. Zoneedit doesn't work since hours and that is the reason why I am thinking of a more redunt configuration.

Your idea would fit best then.

How can I check which dns-server is used with Linux?

Hu? What do you mean by that? Maybe by doing a whois?

I changed my mind and made ns1: zoneedit and ns2: mydomain. Now I would like to know, which service is used when I open my page. Of course this is not really important, because what counts, is a working domain.

I decided to cloak with mydomain and not with zoneedit, so I can see which service is used, when I call my own page. (just for fun)

My question was, if one can use any linux-tools to see how the domain/url was resolved, by zoneedit or by mydomain. Is there a better tool than traceroute?

First it uses the pri zoneedit ns server. If that is down, it uses the pri mydomain one. If this one is down it uses the sec zoneedit, this one down: sec mydomain. If none of these work, you get an error.
Fot your seconde question: I have no idea.
BTW what is your URL?

The page is in German, contains Spanish musicians and is not finished, so if you really interested, mail me please.
