While looking through the 7host site... I was looking at some examples of ASP, and damn if it didn't make sense to me! I can understand a little bit of PHP/Perl, but for the most part, it is just a cluster---- of things I have no idea about.

But this ASP looks like I might be able to do it. Back in the old days, On my 386 monster of a machine, I used to write in QBASIC all the time. I have so many of the dumbest programs ever written.

Any thoughts, tips or opinions about this?

ASP is pretty easy to learn & implement. Plus as you grow with it you may extend its capabilities by using COM components. I have experience in both ASP and PHP and but I prefer PHP since it offers much more in terms of functionality and scalability.

Yeah, I am sure it is, but it doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe someday I will spend some time on it... but right now I am going to work on getting to know ASP. Besides, I can work on ASP and SSI now on my computer with no trouble at all.

I haven't tried installing PHP or Perl, but them being mainly unix languages, probably wouldn't be as easy to develop offline as ASP on a micorsoft OS.

PHP or Perl, but them being mainly unix languages

perl is designed primarily as a portable language independent of the OS - yes it has some silly unix commands

PHP works a dream on a pc

download and intall them today

you'll want a webserver (apache) for the php

What are you using for your ASP production?? I want to have a play with it

PHP is nice though I'd recomend it - v. easy

I just installed microsoft's personal web server and now I can use SSI and ASP on my computer, and it is cool. I don't think I want to install another webserver right now, but when I get my own computer for college soon, I will definetly do that.
