A friend of mine uses ThePlanet for a colocated server. His site loads very poorly for me, and thus I am skeptical of using a host who houses their servers at ThePlanet in Texas. What's everyone's experience with ThePlanet?

My servers are at the planet, and so far all of my hosted sites load for me very quickly, so i think the problem is with his specific server, because mine are still going fine

Yea, I tell him that his servers are slow, but he insists that they're perfect.

ThePlanet has been in business more than 10 years and are reliable and fast. Simple as that. It's most likely your internet connection that is slow, or maybe his site(s) have a large file size. I use them, and many others use them too.

On a serious note, thanks for the input; my friend's site obviously just doesn't have the right hardware.

Yep, just ask anyone which have servers at the planet and they'll tell you they're reliable enough. I think most porb his server is overloaded, or too slow in the first place.

My servers at TP, and my clients are happy. It's fast, stable.

EV1 is good, but I have heard some negative posts about hardware problem recently. However, I have a box at EV1 as well, but up to now, it's really fast too :)

TP is actually the DC of choice for most of us.

We also use theplanet and are very happy with it :).
Sites all load fast , offcourse it depends on the server.
