Alright, I'm planning to go out right now, and buy Counter-Strike (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/182881.asp).
However, I would like to know one thing.
If I have a 256k DSL Modem, and I live in Australia, and play Australian Servers, like OptusNet, iHUG, etcetera.
How much ping would I generate?
Thanks in advance. :-)

it depends on the server location (which state), the servers bandwidth, number of players, etc.
I'm on 256k and get a ping of 20-30 when I play on my ISP's servers, but usually it's anywhere between 40-70.

I have just bought Half-Life, Counter-Strike, from Electronics Boutique, and the CD Key does not work, when I try to register on Steam. Help, anyone?
And yes, I'm 100% sure I typed it in correctly, including the "-", and without the "-".

if you bought it second hand from EB, there isn't much you can do.

They said it was "brand new". :rolleyes2
Anyway, I rang them up, and they said they'll gladly refund it.
But they don't have another Counter-Strike pack.
However, I have tried calling ----smith's and all the other gameshop's, and asked if they had Counter-Strike. Does anyone know where I can find another Counter-Strike pack?

Actually you dont have to return it. Check out Steam Powered website and look in the forums for help. I think you will need to PM the admin about this and ofcourse you will need to show some kinda proof.

you can also buy a cd-key online, and it will download all the components you need (300-400mb i think).

Take a photo, or scan the CD, Manual and the CD Key showing.

I bet someone downloaded a pirated version, then opened the box at the store for the cd-key. Ive heard that actually happens alot, and the consumers//vendors don't seem to notice.

That sucks. Usually they have cameras around right?

Actually they don't need to download a pirated version, all they need to do is download steam and get a cdkey. I downloaded steam and got a key off of a friend who never used it ^^

I remember the days when i used Keygen. I entered a few times before i could play CS, got fed up of it, and bought the CD-KEY. I got it for USD9 comes with box, manual and the CD, brand new.
