Just looking for some advice on my layout..haven't updated much since I start rebuilding it.

http://www.crosswinds.net/~janux

Also thinking of moving to Geocities possibly, before making the jump to a paid server to avoid ads/get reliable speed and such.

I would say to get rid of the frames.

I would say the navigation (top right) is to small and needs to be a more prominant colour, also I would say have a menu come up when you click on a link to the side of the text already there and make the original menu a larger size font and not have it come up below.

Your banner (top centre) could do with alot work.

The updates section (centre) I think should be not so bright or fewer bright colours, it takes attention away from your navigation.

It looks good, but there is a lot of crazy frame-ness. I don't know if that is good for bad. But you might want to tone down the resolution, and maybe use some %'s so that it looks good in all resolutions. You don't really have enough content to justify having everything tuned to that high of a resolution.

Anyway, pro5ject, that is a really good looking banner you made. Want to make one for my site Bigperm Online?

Well, I asked for opinions and got them. Quickly, too. Thanks for that.
First, the frames are only there on the netscape page for two reasons: One, Netscape is really picky about everything, and my page isn't a job, so I didn't want to spend hours working on each little problem with it. Netscape doesn't support Inline frames until 6, and 6 doesn't support %'s.
Two, the people who mostly visit my page don't use netscape anyway, because most of them are friends with HTML experience who dislike Netscape for the same reason I do - it's just picky.

And about the menu size, that's one thing I was wondering about. It's readable, to me, in 1600x1200, and it's almost gawdy in lower resolutions(nothing looks good in 800x600, no matter what page I'm on.).

The banner I like the way it is, two seperate pictures, one with an interchangable quote and the other with the page name on it. Both contain the colors I use in the site.

The news being a flashy color is a good point, but when I change the sidebar menu, I plan on changing their colors to make them stand out.

About not using %'s - I use nothing but, if you check my source. There may be a rare pixel usage, but that's there to make sure the font fits and has been carefully looked at all the way down to 80x600 (I seriously can't condone using anything lower in this day and age.). The reason I have two versions, one for Netscape and one for IE is because Netscape 4 doesn't support IFrames, and Netscape 6 doesn't support %'s with it.

1600x1200 is a lot, that's all I will say. Many people do not surf at that resolution. That's all I'm saying.

Thanks for the logo there pro5ject.

What size monitor do you have? I have a 17inch, and 800x600 works great for me. 1024x768 makes the text rather small and strains my eyes. But while we're on the subject, what resolution and on what size monitor does everyone prefer? ( ie. 17inch at 800x600)?

To BP, I know most people don't, but I use 1600x1200 and when I make layout changes, I look at it in four resolutions. Most of my friends use around 1XXX*XXX-1XXX (I use Xes because they vary a lot).

I have a 17 inch monitor, and 800x600 is very, very huge on my screen. The words are just god-awful large to me.

I have a 17inch'er monitor and 1024x768 and it works fine for me, maybe sometimes the text may be a bit small on some sites.
